Hey, I've got this old T15 mining rig powered by solar. I'm curious if there are any newer low power ASICs for SHA256 that consume around 1500-1600 watts. My backup plan is to grab a used S15, but I wonder if there are better choices out there.

You might consider running an S15 in low power mode. Or what about an S19 with just one hashboard connected? You can find broken S19s online pretty cheap. Just a heads up, as mikeywith mentioned before, noise can be a big issue, so it’s best to keep the other hashboards disconnected.
Honestly, T15 and S15 don’t have much support. I’d go for a used S9 instead. It’s more flexible and you can use different firmware like Braiins OS to auto-tune the power settings.
Nah, if you’re on 220-240 volts, the S15 in low mode can’t compete with the S9. The S15 hits about 20TH at 900 watts, while the S9 can pull 9TH at 720 watts with special firmware. You really need that 220-240 volts to make it work.
Consider snagging a used S19 with some damaged hashboards. Each board uses around 1000W. You can get about 33 TH/s per board at normal power. My S19j Pro 104 does 64TH/s at 1343W, and that's with all three hashboards running.
Don’t forget about the S9j, it’s the next model after the S9 and might be worth a shot.
Does external cooling help reduce power use for ASIC miners? Seems like older machines get hotter over time, which could lead to fans working harder and using more power. Is this a real concern?
Yeah, if they get dusty, they’ll definitely run hotter. Immersion cooling helps keep things clean and cool. Plus, using external air cooling can provide better airflow with less noise, especially if you control it right.
For sure, I’ve been looking into BitCool Dielectric Coolant tech. If we could combine that with older ASICs, it could improve performance and lower noise. But older units are getting less profitable due to hardware limitations. The question is whether better cooling could enhance their efficiency.
