Issues with Installing Bitcoin Core

Hey, I'm struggling to install Bitcoin Core. The public key for Vladmir Van Der Laan is revoked, so I can’t confirm if SHASUM.asc is legit. Any other way to check the file's origin?

Check this out: bitcoincore.org/en/download/. They got instructions for downloading and verifying files. I followed it and it worked for me. If you’re on Linux and want it without GUI, there’s a guide here: raspibolt.org/guide/bitcoin/bitcoin-client.html.

What’s your current verification process? The latest steps are on bitcoincore.org, like I mentioned earlier. If it’s not working, maybe try to refresh the expired public key with the command I posted.

No luck here. The link you sent has SHASUM256 for 26.0, but I'm trying to install 25.0 from this link: bitcoin.org/bin/bitcoin-core-25.0/bitcoin-25.0-x86_64-apple-darwin.dmg. I’m verifying it with SHA256SUMS.asc from bitcoin.org. I ran the command you gave and got a message saying the key is not valid.

Just a heads up, bitcoincore.org is the real deal now, not bitcoin.org. The latter’s outdated with old versions and verification. The release process changed, and releases are signed by more people now. Check the new keys here: https://github.com/bitcoin-core/guix.sigs/tree/main/builder-keys.

That key's expired and no new one’s coming from him. Van Der Laan kind of stepped back from Bitcoin dev last year, so don’t hold your breath for an update on his PGP key. You can still verify signatures by other devs, though.
