Hey guys, quick question for you. Is eCash (XEC) a scam? I bought a bunch a while back and now my investment is worth like 1/10 of what I paid. I thought it was under the Bitcoin Cash network, so what gives?

So, eCash (XEC) is currently sitting at a market cap of around 247 million and is ranked 148. It's not a scam, trust me. Just be careful of scammers trying to impersonate legit projects. Don’t connect your wallet to shady sites.
Have you checked the contract? Look at the price when you bought it and the chart that Charles-Tim shared. That should help you figure things out.
Nah, XEC isn't a scam. They're ranked on Coinmarketcap and the price hasn't been too crazy lately. If you lost 90% of your investment, I'm guessing you bought at the ATH, right? That’s a common pitfall.
If your investment is down 90%, you might wanna ask yourself why you invested in a Bitcoin fork. eCash is just a rebranded Bitcoin Cash. It’s not a scam, but it seems like the project is kinda stagnant. There’s no real market interest lately.
LOL, it’s just another fork of a fork. That's how altcoins roll. eCash came from Bitcoin Cash, which itself is a Bitcoin fork. You gotta be careful with these investments, man.
I mean, it’s on major exchanges, OP. Its daily volume is pretty decent like $1.5M on HTX and around $350k on Binance. Just because the price dropped doesn’t mean it’s a scam. Maybe you just didn’t sell at the right time.
Yeah, I saw it on Binance too. I bought when the price was rising. I guess I got in at the ATH.
Not a scam, for real. The 1/10 ratio is just because eCash is more divisible than BCH. It’s set up to function better as cash. And actually, it’s not under Bitcoin Cash; it’s an independent fork. Your funds should be alright.
But if you lost that much cash, that's a different story. eCash isn't super popular, so when the market dips, it gets hit hard too. You might want to look into BCH instead.

I think the key takeaway here is to not just buy and forget about your investments. You gotta keep an eye on your portfolio to avoid losing value like you did.
Years ago, there was a split in Bitcoin Cash when the lead dev wanted changes. Only a few followed the fork to become eCash. It still has a decent market cap, but the price has been on a downward trend since it started.
Honestly surprised it still has a high market cap for a project that seems to have stalled. The dev could’ve done better with reducing supply and marketing. eCash could’ve drawn more interest from mainstream investors.

You kinda shot yourself in the foot by buying into XEC after its peak. Should’ve waited for it to drop before jumping in. I know the feeling of being stuck, but hopefully it rebounds so you can recoup your losses. If not, consider shifting to a more promising crypto.
