Hey guys I've been looking at the recent dip in Bitcoin and can't shake the feeling that it might be more than just the usual crypto ups and downs. Could it actually be related to the yen carry trade getting unwound? It’s interesting to consider, right?

Absolutely, I think the yen carry trade unwinding definitely plays a role in this. When the yen becomes a pricey way to fund positions, the big players tend to rush out of riskier assets, and crypto is usually first on the chopping block. The way the yen spikes and Bitcoin pulls back aligns way too well.

I disagree with the idea that yen-related issues are a big deal for Bitcoin. In my view, the correlation is weak at best. The Japanese market only seems to contribute a tiny fraction to crypto’s volatility, and that’s mostly event-driven rather than a solid, ongoing trend. We need to focus on other fundamentals.

Nah, I don’t think so. Yen and Bitcoin barely link up. Even if there are exchanges trading BTC/JPY, the volumes are too low to have any real impact. I’ve got my eyes on two main factors: Bitcoin’s four-year cycle is happening and there’s a natural bearish sentiment that feels a bit overdue.
