Hey everyone, remember back in January when the FCA banned retail investors from the crypto ETN? It's cool to see that ban lifted recently in October 2025. Hargreaves Lansdown, the biggest UK exchange, is making waves by saying Bitcoin isn’t an asset, even though they hold a ton of it in their portfolio.
Is Bitcoin Really Not an Asset?

If Bitcoin hits a million bucks today, the haters will still hate. Nothing will convince them otherwise. But honestly, over time, Bitcoin keeps proving them wrong. They’ll just keep getting disappointed!

Lol, Hargreaves Lansdown talking trash about Bitcoin while also offering products that involve it? Classic. Just like Peter Schiff, who criticizes Bitcoin but attends conferences to boast about it. I ignore that kind of nonsense and keep stacking my sats.
Funny to think they’ve been waiting for ages for Bitcoin’s price to drop again. Like, did they even apply for an ETF? Seems odd if they didn’t.

People who don’t get Bitcoin are the loudest critics. Eventually, they end up buying in secretly. I remember when Trump used to bash Bitcoin, now look at him he’s got his own coin!
Bitcoin shook up the world in ways nobody saw coming. Those who built their wealth before Bitcoin can’t wrap their heads around it. Digital assets are now the norm, just like buying stocks. We gotta adapt.
What’s the real value of fiat anyway? Everyone talks about Bitcoin’s volatility, but look at my country’s currency it tanked by 40% and hasn’t recovered. Bitcoin buyers during that time are sitting pretty now.
People can call Bitcoin whatever they want, but understanding what it is and why it was created is key. It’s way more valuable than fiat straight up a solid investment.

The idea of intrinsic value is flawed. Everything’s about relationships and what communities deem valuable. If the FCA lifted the ban, it shows they know Bitcoin isn't worthless.

HL investing in gold while trashing crypto? Sounds like they just don’t want to miss out on the fees. Bitcoin’s unique quality is its ability to transfer value without banks.

If that’s their measure of an asset, their definition is totally off. Gold’s just like Bitcoin in that it doesn't generate income, but we still see it as an asset. Money’s value comes from what we agree on!
All these price predictions for Bitcoin always get proven wrong. Just look at its growth! The naysayers think Bitcoin lacks value, but it’s just a hedge against inflation.
In the end, people will form their own conclusions based on their experiences. We all use Bitcoin differently, so what works for one might not work for another.
Totally agree. A lot of these so-called critics don’t do their homework. They’re just here for the attention, spouting off about Bitcoin being worthless.
Bitcoin’s value comes from its scarcity and utility. HL’s claim makes no sense gold's value is based on rarity, just like Bitcoin.
Governments hate the decentralized nature of Bitcoin. They’re scared of people gaining financial freedom. Critics just promote a narrative against it.

I’d love to debate someone from HL about this. It’s not the first time I’ve heard this nonsense about Bitcoin lacking value. We owe Satoshi big time!
Seriously, why are older analysts so stuck in their ways? Bitcoin's inclusion in major investment portfolios says it all. Ignoring it is just plain silly.
Critics actually help Bitcoin gain traction. If everyone loved it, it would be just another asset, not something that stands out.
For sure. Bitcoin has intrinsic value just like any product that requires resources to create. Mining it costs money, unlike those random altcoins.
