finally, the bitaxeHEX miners are rolling out. it's got a similar setup to bitaxeUltra, using one esp32 controller but now with six of those bm1366 chips. supposed to be hitting around 3th/s and just about 50 watts for power.

heard it's actually closer to 60+ watts, not 50. they claim 3+TH/s at 19W/Th. but man, that price is wild. 400 bucks? even if it's more efficient, it's way pricier than the Avalon Nano 3. I'd rather grab something cheaper to tinker with.

looks pretty neat, right? love how the original Bitaxe has evolved into such a solid miner. the open-source aspect is killer. never thought it would compete with closed-source models. this new hex version is definitely catching the eye of many hobbyists.

sold out already? wow, I guess 400 bucks was worth it for that 19 watts a th. but honestly, I still don’t get why people prefer this over chimney miners. they look nice and all but... really?!

my two cents: running a 60W miner could cost between 50-100 bucks a year at decent rates. compare that to 400-1000W setups costing hundreds. the appeal is clear low initial cost and minimal electricity bills. I can see these lasting a long time for miners.

yeah but you probably won't ever hit a block with it. if you’re mining to a pool, it might earn you like 18 cents a day with free power, which means ages to break even. meanwhile, a 20 th miner could make you 1.20 a day with the same free power.

for sure, I get it. one has a decent roi potential, the other... not so much unless bitcoin skyrockets. but some folks will just buy the chips and make their own batch. cheaper upfront, can flip a few for profit.

size is definitely a plus. but I mean, you can build a chimney setup for around 500 if you go basic. I’ve got an s19xp pulling 600 watts and hitting 29th. smaller miners are hard to justify at that price unless mining really takes off.
