You really don't know how much power miners need, right? We're talking serious juice, like 1 to 3.5 kW each, plus all that power just turns into heat. It’s like having a bunch of space heaters running non-stop... And the noise? Good luck with that!
Thanks for the heads up. I’ve got AC set up that can handle the heat and vent it outside. I can also use soundproofing materials. If it gets too loud, I can find better cooling options... Looking at the numbers, I should be in the green on energy, assuming 1-3.5 kW daily. About $285 for electricity monthly, that's doable.
Nah man, that power draw is continuous while mining, NOT per day. You’re not going to get away with 1-3.5 kW daily, it's more like that every hour.
We’ve got one miner running in a room with our solar setup and batteries. The noise is crazy! My wife even wears earplugs when she’s in there. It’s way louder than any of my other PCs.
Could you break down the energy usage for me? Like, how do we measure that? 3.5 kW for what period?

Sure thing! A 3.5 kW miner will use 3.5 kWh in one hour and around 84 kWh in a day, meaning 2500 kWh a month. If you’re relying on solar, it’ll only work during the day unless you have batteries... They’re super loud too, around 80 dB, definitely not like a quiet room.
You're looking for kWh (kilowatt-hour) to measure energy usage. You can check the wattage on devices, it’ll show up as W or kW. To convert, divide by 1000. For example, if a miner uses 1200W, it's 1.2 kW, and you multiply by hours to find kWh.
As a rule of thumb, a 10k grid-tied solar array typically produces between 1.67 to 2 kW, depending on sunlight. Most good setups have 5000 to 10000 watts, but many can’t even run an S19 miner due to power limitations.
Was my math on point? So, 2444 kWh monthly sounds right? I’m just wondering how mining is viable at all. Do miners use companies for heavy lifting or have setups with cooling systems underground or something?
