Help Needed with Blockchain.info Backup

I found a backup of my Blockchain.info wallet, it's a json file but there's no password. That doesn't seem like json, more like base64 encoded stuff. If it’s not encrypted, you should see the private keys when you open it in a text editor. But you said no password, so decoding it should give you readable keys, right? Where did you even get this backup?

Do you have access to the email linked to that wallet? You might be able to reset your password via this link: https://login.blockchain.com/#/reminder There are guides out there about brute forcing your wallet password too. Check out those links for help.

I created my wallet back in 2013 and used it for a while, but then I just forgot about it. I found the backup in my email and used the link to restore it, but my old password isn't working. I have two backup files: 1. Wallet.aes.json (648B, has password) 2. wallet.aes.json (1.7B) What should I do?

So it sounds like you’ve got the wallet.aes.json file. Have you tried importing it here? You can drop it into this link: https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/import-wallet If that doesn't work, maybe try the other recovery methods.

You messed up by saying it was unencrypted. The name of the file says it all, "aes" means it’s encrypted. Do you have a recovery phrase? That could help you get back your wallet ID and password.

I don't have that recovery phrase... I might remember bits of the password, but not sure if it'll be enough for brute forcing. Should I really try BTCRecover or something else?
