Has anyone else noticed how different the economy was back in the day compared to now? Seems like inflation has made everything super pricey. I can totally see why older folks could buy houses without breaking the bank. And they didn’t have student debt looming over them like we do.
Generational Economic Differences: Old vs Young

For sure. Young people today are living beyond their means big time. I mean, they're more likely to go into debt for a concert than to save up. Can't really blame them, though. There are just so many tempting things to throw cash at nowadays.
Yeah, things have definitely shifted. Back in the day, there weren't any freelance gigs. People just worked traditional jobs. Now, you can pretty much work from anywhere with just a laptop. Gotta love tech for that.

I don’t buy this whole generational divide thing. Both old and young are out there hustling, just in different ways. Some prioritize work-life balance, while others are all about the money. It’s about individual choices, not age.

I see your point, but it’s tough for young people today. The economy is brutal. They’ve got to adapt and find new ways to survive. Job hopping is just part of that, I think.

I’d say young folks are doing pretty well economically. Sure, times were simpler for the older generation, but I see so many young people owning homes and doing well for themselves now.

There’s a lot of talk about how baby boomers ruined things for Gen Z. I mean, they had it easier back then, but it’s hard to say who’s really to blame without living through it.

Exactly, it’s not that younger folks are impatient. They’re just trying to find jobs that pay decent enough to keep up with rising costs. Back in the day, buying a house was doable, now it's a struggle.
The job market is wild right now. More young people are entering it than ever, and it’s only going to get tougher. The priorities of the new generation are just totally different.
Older folks tend to stick with their jobs out of loyalty, while younger people are all about finding high pay and flexibility. They’re used to using digital tools too, which can be tough for the older generation.
True, and it’s a whole different approach to work now. People back then could stay loyal and still achieve their goals, but now you have to juggle multiple gigs and side hustles.

Absolutely, it’s like comparing apples to oranges. Times have changed and so have people's expectations of work and life.
Young people today just want a comfortable work-life balance. They’re not as tied down by tradition which can be both good and bad.
But don’t you think young people should specialize more? It’s better to be an expert in one area than a jack of all trades. That way they can command higher salaries.
There’s definitely a lack of confidence in the future. The older generations saw the potential for savings, but now it feels like there's no point when the future is so uncertain.
Yeah, and with inflation hitting hard, planning for the long term seems pointless for many young people. They’re living in the moment and who could blame them?
It’s pretty crazy how work expectations have evolved. Working hours aren’t what they used to be, and it’s all about maximizing productivity now.

The entitlement issue comes up a lot. Younger folks grew up with certain expectations of life, thanks to movies and culture. When reality hit, it led to frustration.
I just feel like people bash the younger generation without realizing how much the space has changed. Inflation is a beast, and it’s hard to compare earnings then and now.

Yeah, but with all the advancements in tech, there are also tons of young people making real money now. Social media has created a new wave of entrepreneurs.
