Check out this document from the FSB. Looks like they’re trying to tackle all the issues around global stablecoins, like risk management and oversight. I gotta admit, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it all. But honestly, I don’t see it affecting crypto much, especially Bitcoin. What do you all think?

One thing that bugs me is their definition of stablecoins. They say a stablecoin is a GSC if it has the potential for mass adoption across countries. That’s super vague, especially coming from a G20 body. Right now, there are no true GSCs, and I seriously doubt they’ll outpace Bitcoin.

Global stablecoins were basically doomed the moment Libra made its debut. If it’s not backed by a government or central bank, it’s never gonna fly. That’s just how it is. No impact on crypto overall.

I’m not sure about that. Banning DAI seems sketchy since it’s not directly linked to the dollar like Tether.

Nah, there’s no ban on DAI. It's too niche to even matter. This is really about stuff like Libra, which could dominate and threaten other currencies. If you’re in Venezuela, would you stick with the Bolivar or switch to Libra? Easy choice. That’s why they’ll never allow it.

You really think so? The FSB report actually mentions Tether, USDC, and others. Those are key for Bitcoin’s liquidity. A ban or any pressure on major players could seriously shake up the crypto market. If Libra hadn’t stirred the pot, regulators might not have cared about stablecoins at all.

Honestly, I don’t see any solid proposals in this article. It’s all up in the air. Sure, GSCs might disrupt currencies, but who knows if that’s good or bad for the economy? The idea behind a world currency is interesting, but we’ll have to see how it all plays out.

If you look closely at the document, it hints at potential restrictions for developed nations. If G20 countries base their actions on the FSB’s findings, that could spell trouble for crypto. The FSB seems to be flagging GSCs as a threat, but for now, it’s all speculation.
