installed bitcoin core ages ago on D drive, windows on C. had some security notes in a text file on C but formatted the C drive. now I can’t access my wallet cause I lost the password and that text file is gone too. tried a couple recovery tools but nothing works... any ideas?

You might wanna check if your wallet.dat file is still on the D drive. If it is, you could potentially brute-force the password, but only if you remember part of it. If that fails, maybe consider a professional recovery service.
yeah, definitely find someone who knows their stuff. those recovery tools are hit or miss, especially if the password isn't super short. plus, if you remember any bits of it, might speed things up a bit.
seriously though, just go with the pro help. messing around with recovery software might have overwriting issues. like, if you put a new OS, it can overwrite old data. what about your data directory? was it on C too?
agreed. could be more than just a lost password if you wiped your wallet.dat file too. do you remember how you were launching Bitcoin Core after reinstalling?
