Just found this video on the 2011 Bitcoin flash crash. Absolutely a must-watch for anyone studying economics. It's crazy how history repeats itself, right? But yeah, gotta note that this crash wasn't entirely a natural market event. A hacker played a big role in it.

Flash crashes happen fast. Once all those over-leveraged positions get liquidated, the market tends to bounce back. People stressing over minor price drops are just making life harder. The market’s too unpredictable in those moments, honestly.

I wonder what situations would link a future crash to this 2011 one. Glitches happen all the time on exchanges. It seems like there’s always some drama, but a drop to $1 seems unlikely unless we’re talking major manipulation.
Where’s the video? I only see an article. From what I read, the flash crash was mainly due to two things: the Mt Gox hack and a glitch used by the hacker. Wikipedia had some details.
Ah, the good old days. Even recently, hacks impact Bitcoin prices. If Bitcoin blows up tenfold, will we still see those massive sell-offs? I’m curious about how it’ll play out.
More info about Mt. Gox hack would be cool. There’s a history of hacked exchanges since 2011. It’s wild to think how much can change in the space.”},{
Yeah, but major hacks today don’t affect the market like back then. If something like this happens again, I doubt we’ll see Bitcoin drop 80-90% in a day. The supply is way more spread out now.
I’m always ready to scoop up during a crash, but honestly, I don't think we’ll see something like that again.
Don't forget about that other crash in January 2018. ETH plunged to almost nothing on OKEX. Timing can make or break you.
Exchanges these days are kinda sketchy. They know our positions and stop-losses, which feels like manipulation. It’s still easy for whales to move the market.
If I had bought Bitcoin at $0.01 back then, I’d be sitting on a fortune today. Those who panic-sold really missed out. The crypto market is volatile, but if you hold on, you can win big.

Totally agree. Those flash crashes show how panic can take over. Holding on through chaos would’ve made you a millionaire. Bitcoin has grown a lot since then.
Buying Bitcoin back then was a different vibe. Most people wouldn't have believed in it. But imagine investing just $50 and becoming a millionaire years later.
Exactly! Back in the day, BTC felt like a joke. Small market cap made it seem worthless.
To those who regret not buying early, why not invest in the underdogs now? Every era has its ‘Bitcoin’ moments, and they often feel like a joke.

Buying is still buying, regardless of the price. Even if it’s a smaller amount now, it’s still valuable. We shouldn’t let past prices discourage us.
