No mentor here. I used to be more on the losing side, but now I'm winning more often. I mostly trade altcoins, which feels a lot like gambling, tbh. Took a chance on Bitcoin yesterday after a break, and it didn’t go well... Opened a long and the price just tanked. I do trust my instincts sometimes, but I also analyze the market.

I get where you’re coming from. My trading mainly depends on when I actually need cash. I only trade Bitcoin when I must swap it for fiat or other coins. But naturally, I can’t help but follow my gut sometimes, especially if I think a coin's gonna rise. It’s just part of the game, you know?

Totally with you on the mentor thing. Sure, having one can help you speed up your learning, but it doesn’t guarantee success. Sometimes, all that knowledge only plays a minor role in actual trading. It’s how you use that info and practice that really counts. Plenty of people follow their mentor's plan but still don’t see much profit.
Exactly! Many traders started without a mentor and are doing just fine. Sticking to Bitcoin helps minimize losses compared to altcoins, which are like a gamble. One bad trade in altcoins can wipe you out fast, so trusting your instincts is essential. It helps build your skills over time.

I’ve had my share of altcoins that skyrocketed but then got wrecked when I shorted them. My trading account maxes out at $250, and I treat that as my stop loss. I still mess with altcoins though and manage to make some cash despite all the craziness. But yeah, not ideal for newbies.
You’re right, hiring a mentor is pointless if you don’t actually take their advice. It’s a waste of money, really. But even with a mentor, there's no guarantee you’ll profit. The market can flip on you in an instant, and if you’re just relying on emotions, it’s a recipe for disaster.
Mentors can be pricey, so I’m learning solo. Honestly, it’s made me more determined to understand trading better. I might not always succeed, but that just pushes me to get better. I also trust my instincts more now, which has led to some solid lessons.

So true! Paying for a mentor and then ignoring their guidance doesn’t make sense. You might as well save that cash. I’ve seen some mentors charging a fortune for group sessions, can’t imagine personalized ones.

I had a mentor early on, and he still checks in on me. He started as a teacher but switched to mentoring because he liked my progress. I get that following their guidance is probably better than just chasing after excitement. We’re total newbies when we start, so having a pro to guide us is super helpful.

Speaking of mentors, who do you consider a legitimate one? Most seem like admins of random Telegram channels throwing out trading signals. Real mentoring from successful traders costs a lot and what’s offered for free often isn’t worth it.

I trade based on my own analysis. Following someone else's leads hasn’t worked well for me. When I do, I often feel like I’ve let myself down. Better to rely on my own insights, even if that means losing sometimes.
I’m currently mentor-less and okay with it. Early on, I followed some online advice and it worked out, but the market’s really changed since then. Having a mentor could still help if you’re just starting out.

There’s no strict divide between following a mentor’s guidelines or your own greed. Sometimes you can do both. Not every mentor is great either, many don’t know what they’re talking about. If you find a good one, it’s worth listening to them.
It’s not essential to strictly follow your mentor’s teachings. Maybe stick to that in the beginning, but as you gain experience, you’ll find what works for you. Mentors aren’t always right, and some just want your money.
Trading isn’t a guaranteed income source for everyone. It’s a zero-sum game where money shifts from losers to winners. Even if you have a mentor, you need to protect your capital. No one can be right all the time.
I think the key to trading success is balancing solid guidance with trusting your instincts as you gain experience. I’m mentor-less, so I often trade when I need to spend. Assessing altcoin risks is key, especially with market volatility.
Combining guidance with your personal strategy is essential. Sometimes mentors can be wrong, and in those moments, relying on your skills can be beneficial. Trading’s more about knowledge than guesswork, so learning both is key.

No mentor here either, but I stick to a solid trading path. I avoid high margins for risk management, which means I miss out on big wins. But I’m pretty content with my current win rate, managing risks well keeps me profitable.
Are you talking about copy trading or just learning skills? Listening to advice is one thing, but just copying plans is another. Right now, investing might be smarter than trading since profits are lower.
