Just sold all my GPUs for mining a few days ago, some losses but also some wins. Now I'm focused on Bitcoin only, which I should've done ages ago. Got $15k to invest in an ASIC miner but I live in a remote place where tech isn't a priority. Super worried about breakdowns since no one here can fix ASICs.
Diving into ASIC Mining: Experiences and Challenges

Honestly, no ASIC will be completely safe from breakdowns. The pricier models usually come with more risk. I've seen people lose cash buying expensive ASICs without stabilizers for power. In rural areas, cheap power can mean frequent outages. If you were my mate, I'd tell you to be careful.
So there's always a risk with ASICs? Thanks for that, @TechGuru. Is repairing them really that tough? I did some digging and found that parts like the whole board and PSU are swappable. Are there places to order spare parts for ASICs?
Repairing them is only workable if you have a bunch of ASICs. You need at least 15 to justify the costs of repairs. With $15k, how many can you actually buy? You might get 3 and then wait for two of them to fail... and with halving coming up, timing is key.
You did well selling old miners. If you’re buying new, consider the Antminer S19 Pro. It can bring in decent revenue. But man, those Antminers don't come cheap. Still, I believe Bitcoin mining will be worthwhile in the next bull run.

Really? No one around knows how to fix them? Maybe you just haven’t found the right folks. There should be other miners in your area. Connect with them and learn how they deal with repairs. Check out maintenance tips too.

The repair prices can be steep. If the repair cost is close to the price of the module, can’t you make your own compatible parts? And owning 15 ASICs sounds crazy, like a lifetime of mining just to keep them running.
Definitely look for older models instead of the latest. Like, maybe skip the XP and go for the Pro. They’re less efficient, but waaaay cheaper. You could snag around 10 and hit about 1PH/s. I know people in Africa pulling it off in remote spots.
Finding a repair technician is tough. Giving an ASIC to someone who fixes TVs is a recipe for disaster. The understanding of mining is just not there. Most folks are into crypto but avoid mining because of unreliable power. That's why I set up solar!
Oh man, I feel you on this. When my ASIC broke, I had to hunt online for a new one since no techs were around. There are barely any shops selling mining gear locally, which makes it hard. Stable power is a must, and government supply is risky as hell.
