Differences Between Transaction Versions

What's up with transaction versions? What’s the difference between version 1 and version 2?

I built a blockchain analyzer for Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash, and Bitcoin Cash a while back. Now I'm downloading Litecoin blocks, but my program crashes on a specific transaction in block LTC 2398213. It’s a version 2 segwit transaction, and I’m dealing with huge witness block sizes. The transaction is 9e919a5cc9a38f79d687cb84f0005a452589adbb33a5c092837137df19549dcb. I think Bitcoin might have a similar issue.

Oh yeah, that’s the MWEB protocol messing things up in Litecoin. They changed the SegWit flag to 8 instead of 1. It allows some weird things, like spending coins without a witness. Your code might break due to undefined flags or the missing witness.

Transactions with version 2 can handle locktime, right? There’s a field for that in version 1 too, but I heard it was disabled before locktime was a thing.

Are you sure about that? I think locktime applies to all transactions. Version is only checked for OP_CHECKSEQUENCEVERIFY, and if it’s below 2, it fails. Not sure where else the version matters.
