Hey all,
I've spent around 8 months building a trading system for BTC. I'm not really focused on short-term gains; my main goal is to manage risk and keep capital safe, while ensuring it works across various market conditions.
I've tested it on some altcoins too and got similar results without any major issues, but BTC is still my main target.
I’m using TradingView for reporting, but it kinda limits what I can see, so I check performance every month.

Cool thread, appreciate the breakdown.
I've gone through the whole "TV to live to scaling" thing a few times. Just my two cents, I see the TV Strategy Tester as more of a way to spot bad ideas rather than a way to validate strategies. It’s great for ditching the bad stuff early, but it gets too optimistic with the nitty-gritty of execution. Some things I’ve noticed that differ in live trading include:
* ignoring partial fills
* overly optimistic TP/SL setups based on bars
* slippage acting wild during volatile times.
On lower timeframes, these issues stack up.
I appreciate your insights, but I see it a bit differently.
I don't really think about TradingView as needing a separate validation phase since it runs the exact strategy on real historical data, and it keeps testing in live conditions. It’s more of a continuous forward test instead of just a theoretical model.
Also, regarding volatility: the timeframe I’ve analyzed already includes some intense market swings, like quick drawdowns and recent high volatility periods.
