Lately, there's been a lot of chatter on Twitter. Some folks, even big names like Blackrock, think BTC should raise its 21 million supply limit or risk falling victim to 51% attacks. Seems like they wanna turn it into something more like Dogecoin, right?

Yeah, this supply cap argument keeps popping up. It's just the same old scaling problem we’ve tackled before. People act like if we don’t change it, Bitcoin’s doomed.
But think about it. If we allow a 51% attack to be profitable, wouldn’t that just scale up with Bitcoin's value? Security relies on miners making enough revenue to keep the network safe.
True. The only way to maintain security during halving is to double the fees. We gotta keep those sat/vbyte rates up.
I don’t know if increasing the block reward is the answer. It goes against the grain of what Bitcoin stands for. Tail emissions might work but it sounds complicated.

Yeah, no cap like Dogecoin. The price should still rise, but if we increase supply, we risk losing value. That’s a slippery slope.

Hashrate isn’t the whole picture. It’s more about how much it costs to attack. The real players will be big holders or layer two solutions, not regular users.
Not entirely right. Having more coins doesn’t mean you get more power. PoW keeps it fairer compared to PoS where the rich get richer.
If they increase the supply, it’s just gonna create another altcoin. We don’t need that. Can’t we just tweak the proportions instead?
Exactly! A subnetwork with different amounts could work as long as it stays compatible. Look at the Lightning Network with millisatoshis.
I get what you mean, but I doubt those big HODLers would stop at one increase. They’d want to keep raising it, making Bitcoin feel like the dollar.
Increasing block sizes could solve some problems. With BTC getting popular, it might lower fees and draw people back. Right now, altcoins win due to high BTC fees.
True, but we can’t just blow up the block size. We need to find the right balance so that fees stay high enough.

Yeah, but if we don’t act against spam, we’re opening the door for issues. Some advanced cryptography might help with that.
What’s the real motive behind wanting to increase supply? Free money? That would just dilute Bitcoin’s value.
I doubt it’s about technicalities. If they change the cap, it’s like reissuing shares. That just screams profit motive.

Honestly, these big companies don’t care about the original BTC. They’ll just follow the chain that suits them best.
People just don’t get how the 21 million cap was set by Satoshi. It’s like they want to break the core principle of Bitcoin.

You’re missing the point. This could lead to a repeat of 2017’s forks. All these new ‘Bitcoin’ coins popping up, it’s a mess.
If the community wanted a tail emission, it could happen, but there are too many security risks to consider.
