So what if, instead of just transactions, we store events that are linked by time and causality? Like this structure: system_genesis...device_genesis...hash...prev_hash...timestamp...signature

Well, since you brought this up on a Bitcoin board, I guess we’re talking about Bitcoin itself. But whatever form it takes, it won't be Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the original currency and all else is just tag-along. Transactions are just a small piece of this.

Nah, you're off there. Bitcoin’s use as a money tool is just one aspect. Its design is actually meant to log all sorts of incoming and outgoing events, which led to those transactions. Honestly, calling Bitcoin just a transaction tool is kinda primitive. It’s capable of recording many types of events, not just cash movements.

But Bitcoin’s existence could be at risk since it’s built on personal control and privacy, right? Decentralization is key. AI and autonomous systems might take over and we wouldn't need the same trust framework anymore. More like querying events instead of just reviewing transactions.

How does asking for info hurt trust? A node can just ignore a request if the user wants it that way. Each node can decide how to respond, plus they’re designed to be autonomous and keep things private. They're using multiple layers of security too.

I’m confused... how will this thing actually work? What’s your take on ‘transactions’ here? When someone sends cash from A to B, aren’t they still going to need to create transactions to publish? How does this affect miners or the network setup?

Your diagram really doesn’t clarify things. You brought up event-based memory, but if that happens, every event or transaction is recorded there. Sounds like trouble for security and privacy.

Nothing truly ‘evolves’ if it’s going the wrong way. It just breaks down. Evolution means moving from a lesser to a greater stage, but if you start to deviate, you ruin what it was meant to do. If you redesign stuff right, it can fit new roles. But it doesn’t just happen: there’s always intention behind it.

Maybe we’ll get more clarity if the OP chimes in. It’s been days, but they’re still active... What’s a higher or lower state even mean in this conversation? The main question is how this new block would operate differently than existing transactions.
