Hey all,
I’ve got accounts with both Coinbase and Gemini. Is one better than the other?

Honestly, both are solid choices. It kinda depends on your needs, ya know? No perfect exchange fits everyone, so figure out what's most important for you and find the right balance between pros and cons.
Right now, I wanna sell some Bitcoin I mined ages ago. But my issue with Gemini is that my account’s stuck in verification hell for two months. I didn’t chase it because of the price drop.
Wow, two months? That’s insane. Have you talked to support? What did they say? And how’s your Coinbase account? Any issues there?
Maybe someone here could suggest some alternatives? How much are you looking to sell?
I'm in the same boat, looking to sell too! But different reasons here. Sharing a chat I had with Deepseek...
I can sell these balances and prove ownership with a signed message on the blockchain, but my lack of tools is slowing me down. Gotta avoid losing my assets.

That’s strange about the two-month wait. If it drags on, you should definitely hit up support again. They should give you answers or at least expedite the verification. If not, consider switching to someone else like Binance.

If Gemini is a hassle, why not just use Coinbase? Your Gemini account isn’t verified yet, so seems like a no-brainer to me, right?
Coinbase is pretty reliable, especially since it’s been around since 2012. Never used it myself, though. I prefer other exchanges that feel more user-friendly. Not sure how trustworthy Gemini is.
Totally agree we need a fully decentralized exchange without KYC so anyone can trade freely. But then again, bad actors would probably ruin it. Just can’t have nice things, huh?
If Gemini’s giving you grief, just go for Coinbase. There are other options too, based on what you want. Just check the fees and security issues they're important.
I have $80k ready for each Bitcoin, but I need specific amounts to close some UTXOs like 4.2, 4.62, then 5.04 BTC.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
I contacted support again and actually got a response this time after resubmitting my ticket. A few days later, they sorted it out. I had a lot of back and forth previously with no luck. When Bitcoin dropped, I kinda shelved the whole thing. Now I’m set, just hoping BTC rises.
We’ve got BISQ, but it’s not super beginner-friendly. There’s a learning curve, which is why the volume is lower. But there are some no-KYC exchanges that aren’t fully decentralized, kinda a middle ground.
Glad to hear you got it resolved! Sometimes support can be hit or miss. For long-term storage, definitely stick to a non-custodial wallet instead of these exchanges.

Liquid Brokers for trading Bitcoin is where it’s at. They’re regulated, and leveraging is sweet. Trust me, you’ll really like it, especially if you’re active in the market.
