Just saw that a 20-year-old lottery winner turned down a million bucks for $1,000 a week... that’s $52k a year, which means over 20 years to hit 1 million. What do you all think about that? Would you pick the weekly pay or the lump sum?

Honestly, I think choosing $1k a week is pretty dumb. Even if you live long, inflation's gonna eat away at that cash fast. A million today is worth way more than a million in 20 years.

Some folks might actually prefer the $1k weekly. They see it as consistent income and it fits their plans better. Personally, I’d grab the million all at once. You never know what tomorrow brings.

This news came out last December. Even CZ had some hot takes on it. If you think about it, if the winner passes away, does their family even get anything? Not to mention, inflation’s no joke.

To each their own, I guess. For her, $1k a week might feel safer. But if it were me, I’d take that million, life’s unpredictable. Plus that $1k might not stretch far in the future.

True, who knows if you’ll even be around in 20 years? I’d want to take the million now and maximize my opportunities. Waiting for installments just seems risky.

I’d definitely take the million too. The winner may have personal reasons for taking the $1k, but honestly, planning for a business or investments feels almost impossible with just weekly payments.

+1, the average person might be better off with $1k weekly since they might blow through a million too quickly. But if you can manage cash, that lump sum is the way to go.

If I had the choice, I’m all about that lump sum. I want to invest and grow it. $1k a week sounds safe, but it may not help you build wealth long-term.

Honestly, I kinda get the weekly payment choice. Some people are bad with money, and the steady flow can prevent them from blowing all of it. But inflation is a killer.

For me, it’s a clear choice. I’d take the million now, even if I have to deal with taxes. Better to invest it than to wait and see if the payments keep coming.

Everyone’s got their reasons. Maybe that guy’s scared of the huge amount in one go. But a million right now opens so many doors for investment and opportunities.

The winner’s thought process seems a bit average to me. Who wouldn’t want a lump sum to invest in better opportunities? Plus, she might not even live to collect it all.

I get feeling $1k a week is a safe bet, but man, that million could set you up for life. Plus, you never know if the company might change the rules later.

There might be reasons behind the winner’s choice, like tax concerns or just wanting security. But honestly, I’d still take the million and plan for my future with it.

$1k a week isn’t much compared to a million. But in certain areas, that $1k can stretch a lot further than in others. Tough choice, but I’d lean toward the weekly.

In the end, it boils down to how comfortable you are with money. That winner seems to be playing it safe, but investing that million could change everything for the better.

It sounds like this decision tells you a lot about the person. Some people just wanna play it safe and not take risks. But taking risks can often lead to greater rewards.

Whatever you choose, just make sure you’re thinking about the long-term effects. Taking money all at once could secure your financial future if done properly.

Look, it’s more than just the money. It’s about mindset. Some people are just okay with living paycheck to paycheck, even if it’s every week for life.
