So, I got some bitcoin testnet yesterday from this cool guy here (thanks, BlackHatCoiner). I thought I’d be using testnet for my campaign, but it looks like they're using signet instead. I’m kinda bummed because I thought they were the same thing. Now I wanna know if there's a way to convert my testnet coins to signet. Anyone know how?
Nope, not possible. Both are completely separate, and neither has any real value. You can't really 'trade' them. There are some faucets that can give you signet coins, but you'll need someone to donate them if you're looking for free options. Just check the faucets list.
That sounds kinda shady to me... Like they want you to lock up your bitcoins somewhere and then give you a junk token called 'staking'. Been around before, but not sure it’s worth it. Probably just a short pump and dump.
Yeah, I'm not getting anything from it right now. Just hope I can swap some of my testnet with someone. Might end up with some random token if I succeed in this campaign, but who knows if it'll be worth anything. They do have a decent backer, though.
Take it easy. If they’re giving away coins, go for it. Just don't risk your real bitcoins by depositing them somewhere sketchy or installing weird software. And honestly, that 'value' is probably a joke. Most of these projects crash after a while.
I’m only using testnet for this campaign, so no harm in trying. I’ll be fine if no tokens come from it. Anyone have some signet BTC they can share to help a fellow out?
If you can create a transaction in both networks, then technically, yeah, they could be connected. Some tricks work even with regtest and mainnet. So, using multisig might be an option too. But really, do you even need to swap?
I just asked for the signet btc because the campaign said to use OKX wallet for it. I need a few signet coins to try out the staking. But every faucet I hit is either broken or out of coins. I'm not super techy, so just looking for help.
Why not just hit up a signet faucet? Like signetfaucet.com? It might take a while to get the coins, but it's better than the mess with testnet right now. Just hang tight for a bit.
Thanks for the heads up! I got some info from the campaign on Discord. Yeah, the faucets take their sweet time, but the task I did is done, so I’m just waiting.
You can also quickly swap from sepolia or monad over at getsignetbitcoin.com. They’re adding support for swapping from testnets too, so that might be your ticket.
These chains are totally independent. They might share code or test stuff together, but good luck trying to connect them directly. It’s worth a shot if you want to try.
