Just saw an article mentioning how some countries are backing off or delaying CBDCs. Makes you think about the implications, right? Imagine a future where money can be restricted anytime... Brazil seems to be bailing on its DREX project. Is this a trend we might see more of?

I wouldn't go as far as saying Brazil has abandoned the CBDC. It feels more like a shift in strategy or maybe a temporary hold-up. CBDCs aren't super popular yet, maybe due to privacy concerns or implementation costs. Plus, traditional finance still plays a big role.

Nah, it feels more like they're just stalling what's inevitable. Many countries aren’t ready for CBDCs yet. Brazil has a digital divide, especially in rural areas. Until everyone is online, I think the transition to digital money will take time.

CBDCs have their pros and cons. On one side, governments can track citizen spending better, but citizens can also keep an eye on government finances. I wonder if Brazil is worried about that transparency, which could be a reason for backing off.

Lol, yeah the real issue isn’t just implementing CBDCs but getting people to use them. It's like a distraction from crypto because people see the difference. Folks want out of government control, and CBDCs aren’t appealing. They tried with E-naira but it flopped.

Totally agree, they’re pushing too fast without considering how people will react to these changes. Seems like they didn’t get the public support they expected, and it led to shutting down the DREX project. Now they're looking into stablecoins instead.

Honestly, CBDCs are kinda pointless. It’s like recreating something that’s already there. We’ve had digital fiat before CBDCs even popped up. Why waste resources on creating something new when the old system already exists?
