How much power does it need? If it’s over 1,100 watts, you’ll need 208-240VAC. Any Bitmain APW supply should work, but get one that can handle more than the miner needs. Edit: Actually, the miner needs a 2,200w PSU, so those Bitmain supplies won’t cut it.

I'm using a Whatsminer P5 PSU, but it won’t turn on when I plug it in.

That PSU is 2,200w and needs 208-240VAC. Are you connecting it to that voltage? If it’s only 120V, it won’t work.

I tried plugging it in but nothing happened. I can't find a suitable power supply. What should I get?

What voltage are you using? 120VAC or 208-240VAC? If it’s not over 208VAC, the PSU won’t start. If you share your location, we can guess what voltage you usually have. For replacement PSUs, check with the manufacturer; many miners use custom PSUs that provide unique voltages.

I’m in the US with a standard 15-amp outlet.

That’s the issue. In the US, you typically have 115-120VAC, but your miner needs 208-240V. Look for an unused dryer or stove outlet, which should be in the 220-230V range. Get the right cord, and it should work. Not trying to be rude, but if you didn’t know the usual voltage here, you might want to rethink this.

Am I still on topic? I know a guy who uses an inverter with two truck batteries in series. He runs two servers 24/7. I’ll check in next week to see how that setup works.

I have a few M3 units, and I can tell you they won’t power on without the original Whatsminer PSU that comes with it. The PSU has a cable connecting it to the controller, which controls fan speed and more. You need the M3 PSU for it to work properly. Other PSUs might keep it running for a few minutes, then shut down.
