ASIC Miners vs Mining Rigs: What's Best for Bitcoin?

What’s the deal with ASIC vs mining rigs these days? Which one's actually better for making profits with Bitcoin?

This is strictly for Bitcoin mining, so if you’re using anything other than ASIC miners, you’re in the wrong spot. You can’t compete with the difficulty level right now unless you’re using an ASIC. Rigs are for altcoins only, no debate.

C’mon, read the pinned message. It explains everything. CPUs and GPUs are made for variety, they do a million things which wastes time. ASICs, or Application Specific Integrated Circuits, are built to do one task perfectly in this case, crunching SHA256. They’re way more efficient.

Honestly, I think we should mix all mining discussions together. But the fact is, BTC mining with an ASIC like the S19 is where it’s at. Using GPUs for BTC on NiceHash belongs in altcoin talk. I see what you mean. Mining rigs usually go for coins like Ethereum or Litecoin while ASIC miners focus only on Bitcoin. With BTC prices climbing, ASICs probably mean more profit. But isn’t it tougher to mine BTC now? You'd need a lot of ASICs to get decent returns.

It really varies. If you’ve got cheap power and $10k to put into mining, maintaining one solid $10k ASIC is easier than juggling ten $1k GPUs. More parts, more issues. But small-scale miners with GPUs aren’t completely out of luck they can still get paid in BTC from some services.
