Are Prepaid Crypto Cards a Thing of the Past?

Been looking into payment systems recently and honestly, I'm so fed up with this whole sell to fiat first model like what Crypto.com does with their prepaid cards. Just came across an article on Medium about Wallmoney and PayTo that’s got some cool insights into their 42-second settlement process. Sounds like they go straight from crypto assets to the merchant's fiat. Anyone else heard about this?

That "42-second settlement" thing raises a red flag for me. Merchants usually get authorization super quick, but actual settlement? Nah, that’s not how it works. It’s more like internal swaps that seem instant but aren't magic. Where’s the conversion happening, who’s actually handling the funds, and what if there’s a market crash? These are the real questions. Anyone has insights on this?
