Why do companies pull stuff like this? Seems like they’re just trying to lock you in. No real reason to use a custom path and not share what it is. That seed phrase is pretty much worthless if they go under.

That's true, but some people have actually tried selling them before, and surprisingly, some folks bought them. Even if faucets only give tiny amounts, does it really change anything?
