So apparently, Russia's thinking about banning crypto again. The central bank wants to stop crypto mining and usage. They legalized it back in 2020, but now they're flipping the script.
What's Happening with Crypto in Russia?

I doubt they'll go through with a total ban. They're just looking to regulate and tax crypto sellers instead. Honestly, it could create new jobs if they handle it right.
It's a different vibe than China's ban, right? Russia's got solid ties to Europe, so miners could just relocate if things get tough here.
Wait, the president supports crypto while the central bank wants a ban. Feels like the president's influence is stronger, so I don't see a full ban happening.
Interesting. Could this be why the US and EU backed off from banning Russia from Swift? If they can't use euros, using Bitcoin might be their way to sidestep sanctions.

Yeah, it’s still just a proposal. Nothing’s set in stone yet. But considering Russia's more authoritarian style, it’s fair to worry. They might try to curb mining completely.

Why would they ban it when they need it for trading post-sanctions? Crypto might actually be more useful now for Russia than before.

Totally agree. Putin seems to get crypto better than most world leaders. He's even said Russia has some advantages for miners.
The central bank might not have the power to stop Bitcoin. There's a lot of pro-crypto sentiment in Russia. Even with a ban, people will find ways around it.
They've got so much energy resources. Europe depends on them for that stuff, so a ban on crypto mining could backfire on them.

They don't realize they can't just ban it. Full control isn’t possible, especially with decentralized currencies.
I see this as a chance for Russia to gain more control over trade. They might use Bitcoin to deal with around banking restrictions.
I’m not convinced it’ll happen. A lot can change due to the ongoing conflicts. The energy crisis might force them to rethink.

Russia’s not likely to ban Bitcoin when they’re working on regulations for it. They need that option to engage in international trade.

Funny how the narrative shifts. They were trying to ban it, but now they're accepting Bitcoin for exports. The situation's turned in favor of crypto.
Seems like the original news is contradicting what's happening now. There’s a lot of movement towards acceptance, not banning.
Yeah, OP, fix that broken link. Your source is shaky and not credible. The article feels outdated with all the recent shifts.
This seems like old news, throwing around scare tactics. I heard Russia's considering Bitcoin for trade, which is pretty different.
Things are really different now since the war started. Russia's adjusting its strategies around crypto.

With the current situation, banning Bitcoin could backfire on Russia. They need it to bypass sanctions and keep trade alive.
