I just checked out World Coin and wow, it feels like something out of Black Mirror. At first glance, it seemed kinda wild, but then I realized it’s about global citizenship or something. Still trying to wrap my head around it.
What do you think about World Coin?

Honestly, trading your retina scan for a few bucks? Not a fan. Heard they give you WLD for your eye scan which you can then sell. Sounds super dystopian to me, can’t believe people are still doing this.
Thinking long term, if they keep collecting retina data, that’s a massive risk. Imagine someone getting access to all that info. I mean, it could end up in the wrong hands. My government even started cracking down on these scans.
So I looked into the WLD price, and it’s sitting around $1.2 each. Seriously, why would anyone give away their biometric data for that? It’s just not worth it at all.
Right? People are worried about what’ll happen when this hits places like China or Russia. Those governments could totally pressure the devs for data. They might end up like Telegram, trying to protect user data and facing bans.

Yeah, I saw this thing popping up in areas of my country too. People just thought they’d get easy cash for an iris scan. But then it got shut down because... well, issues arose.

Worldcoin is linked to Sam Altman from OpenAI. The whole eye scan thing is super controversial. I don’t see a lot of movement in this project either. Seems kinda dead to me.
I can’t believe people actually do this for a few bucks. It’s just insane how far some will go for money. Dystopian vibes all around.
The reward goes to the person scanning their eyes, right? They get WLD as proof of identity. But it’s just scanning eyes... feels like a hollow project to me. And AI using that data? Yikes.
Weirdly enough, my YouTube feed keeps pushing this project. Feels like some paid promo. They say participants get paid in stablecoins, but how much are we talking about?

People are still signing up because of Sam Altman’s name. They think it's safe and they’ll get rich. 4.5 million have scanned their irises already. Probably more now.
I’m feeling bearish on World Coin. There’s a ton of supply out there and people are gonna sell off. Especially in poorer countries, there’s a lot of pressure to cash out.
OpenAI's been in hot water for copyright stuff. Makes me wonder how safe my biometric data really is. Personally, I wouldn’t risk my privacy for WLD.

The whole idea is risky, man. Like, selling your data for a few WLD? Nah, I’d rather keep my privacy intact. The future implications scare me.
This token feels centralized since Sam Altman created it. I get the concept of supporting people for basic income, but investing in it? Long-term losses are likely.
Totally agree! They need to incentivize better. Maybe $1000 per scan? In a bad economy, $50 is barely enough for groceries. Feels super lowball.

Yeah, it’s centralized for sure. They don’t even hide it. I’ve never seen them promote decentralization. But that’s not surprising in crypto.

Centralized projects aren’t new. KYC is a thing and people are used to it. I think they’ve been around since before AI got big.
Even without AI, identity theft is a risk. I don’t think people should judge too quickly, maybe it’s not as bad as it seems.
+1 to that. Identity theft happens regardless of AI. But the whole concept still feels off to me.
