Hey everyone, I got some newbie questions...
What’s the total nonce range that miners need to check for valid hashes?
So I think it’s (nonce + extranonce + timestamp), which gives (2^96)? Am I on the right track?
Nonce is (2^32), but how big are the extranonce and timestamp? Are they both 32 bits too?
And what decides where a miner starts their nonce? Is the one in the block header the starting point?

The nonce is indeed 32 bits.
Changing the timestamp or other block details gives miners more nonce options.
The miner picks the starting nonce. In pools, they get a specific nonce range assigned.

Here's some info for you:
The extranonce isn’t set by the protocol, so it can be any size that fits into the coinbase transaction. The timestamp, however, is definitely 32 bits.
