I’m new to all this but really wanna try running a node. But honestly, I have no idea how to even start. Can someone help me out? Like, what do I need in terms of hardware? And how long does the whole syncing thing usually take?
You’re definitely gonna need a solid setup if you want to run a full node. An SSD with at least 1TB is a solid choice. Storage is key, with the blockchain being around 720GB right now. For RAM, aim for at least 4GB, but more is better. The faster you can sync, the better your experience will be.
I’d say go for a newer CPU if you can. Sometimes a new i5 beats old i7s in performance. And while 4GB RAM is a start, 8GB would be ideal, if you can swing it. Helps with speed during initial downloads for sure.
Yeah totally! SSDs are the best but if you’re on a budget, HDDs work as well, just make sure you have enough RAM. 12GB+ is nice to have. And syncing depends a lot on your Internet speed too. I’ve seen people take 12 hours, but that’s with solid hardware.
Check out some guides online, they really help! You can get a decent set-up for around 50 bucks. And it’s no biggie if syncing takes a few days. Just make sure your power stays stable while you’re downloading the blocks. An older machine can work fine too!
