So Switzerland tried to get Bitcoin as a reserve asset and basically flopped. They wanted to diversify away from euros and dollars since 2021, but nothing changed at the SNB... kinda disappointing.

Yeah, I mean they hold a ton of gold. Bitcoin's been lagging behind and gold's been shining lately. Not a surprise that folks didn't rush to sign up.

Right? I doubt they would hit 50,000 signatures even with a larger population. If they ever table a bill, politicians would probably just block it.

If they had jumped on this back in 2021, maybe people would’ve been more into it. But now? Just a ton of skepticism. It took them forever to realize Bitcoin could be a reserve.

Not all countries rely on signatures for decisions. Some just let the government decide. Imagine a Nordic country doing a signature drive for Bitcoin. Totally absurd.

If it were a public vote here, we’d get millions. A lot of people use Bitcoin but it's illegal here. So yeah, we don’t talk about it openly.

Switzerland failing to get 100k votes for Bitcoin is wild. They really need to see the potential this thing has.

I don’t think votes should even be needed for a reserve. The officials should just make the right decision. But, you know, Swiss love their gold.

Totally get that. It’s a political move, not just a public one. They should know better about Bitcoin’s potential, even if only a small percentage.

#10 Aug 17, 2022, 03:11 PM 100k signatures is nothing in countries like India or China. They’d pile up in no time, but those governments won't let it happen.

#11 Aug 17, 2022, 07:21 PM So many campaigns fail to get signatures. Honestly, getting 50k isn't that tough. People just need to get organized.

#12 Aug 18, 2022, 07:52 PM Switzerland’s crypto awareness is way different from places like the US. Population size definitely plays a role in signature campaigns.

#13 Aug 18, 2022, 08:29 PM 100k is totally doable. The campaign just needs to be serious about the outreach and not just put a sheet in a corner.

#14 Aug 19, 2022, 02:29 AM In my country, people are still hesitant about Bitcoin as a reserve. Government talks? Nope. It's all still about trading.

#15 Aug 20, 2022, 08:22 AM This number doesn’t scale well. In Switzerland, 100k means 1 in 100 people had to sign. In India, it’d be way less.

#16 Aug 20, 2022, 01:58 PM Lol, irony at its finest. Bitcoin folks want governments to prop up their investment value.

#17 Aug 20, 2022, 05:40 PM Politicians know about Bitcoin, but many don’t push it. They’re more about what fills their own pockets. Sad, really.

#18 Aug 20, 2022, 10:16 PM Switzerland is supposed to be legit and less corrupt. They should look out for their citizens, right? Not that I trust any government.

#19 Aug 21, 2022, 12:16 AM Agreed, but corruption can be sneaky even in 'less corrupt' places. They still have their agendas.
