Probably when that Chinese botnet got a CAPTCHA update... just saying.

Saw an article on Yahoo about it. Had to check it out. My old rig is pulling 900KHash/sec now, haha. Thinking of upgrading and diving into mining. But seriously, how much can one expect to make with a $1,000 rig?

You'd make way less than just buying $1k in Bitcoin and holding it.

Exactly. At this rate, that $1k could turn into like $5k in a month or two.

Yeah, honestly, anyone mining now could’ve probably made more just investing straight into Bitcoin.

Maybe. But hey, I’m setting up 3 x 6990 rigs next week and even more later. Gotta find space for a data center.

I’m thinking about upgrading too. Should I do it now or wait for November? If I can get a few months of mining in, why not?

For those actually mining and selling, how much money can a $250 GPU make in a month? Seriously curious. Love the concept of Bitcoin.

Past performance isn’t a guarantee, but you can hope, right? Markets can swing back down hard.

True, no one can predict the future, but mining difficulty is rising and it might affect BTC value.

Right. Miners need media exposure to survive. But a well-chosen miner might rake in $300 if lucky.

I see mining as a good way to invest. Real estate isn’t cutting it anymore. I’d be happy with a 10% monthly return, considering depreciation.

Interesting take, but you realize you guys just told him a new rig won't generate more than 55 coins? That's pretty sketchy.

Yeah, if he goes solo mining, he can still make some coins, unlike just buying and waiting.

And with depreciation, components from that rig could still sell for around $800. Can't ignore that.

Exactly! Plus, hardware retains some value. Even after a year, you can sell it for decent cash.

If only buyers existed, BTC prices would skyrocket! Forget mining, just BUY!
