So there's this bear market, but Steak ‘n Shake is seeing a rise in customers after accepting Bitcoin. Seems like people are ready to spend it instead of just holding. Love to hear some good news like this during a downturn.
Steak ‘n Shake and Bitcoin Payments: What’s the Deal?

Honestly, I’m kinda shocked by this! In a time when Bitcoin is dropping, it’s cool to see a business getting positive attention for accepting it. How are they doing it though? Are they using the Lightning network? I wonder about transaction speeds for burgers.
Right? Bitcoin is mostly a long-term hold these days. If it’s gonna be used for purchases, businesses need to have a plan to manage that volatility. No details given on that though.

True! It’s refreshing to see businesses like Steak ‘n Shake embracing Bitcoin. They even pay employees in Bitcoin, which shows real growth and acceptance. But let’s be real, the price drops don’t seem to affect Bitcoin's adoption that much.
Yeah, definitely using the Lightning network. A customer shared a screen grab showing that you can pay with a Bitcoin Lightning wallet. Pretty neat!
Every time I use Bitcoin for purchases, it just feels right. It’s like a dream come true for this whole crypto thing. Maybe I’m just a Bitcoin fanboy.

Seems like there were a ton of Bitcoin users waiting for a chance to show support by spending it. They’re building up reserves instead of cashing out right away. It’s smart they’re focusing on growing their customer base.

I think the volatility issue is why people see Bitcoin more as an investment rather than a currency. Governments aren’t making it easy either, so businesses are hesitant to accept it.
For sure. When they decided to take Bitcoin, I’m pretty sure it was all laid out that they’re using the Lightning network.
Wait, do they only accept Lightning? That’s interesting. I saw a kid paying with Bitcoin there, and it made me think about how young people are getting into it now.
That’s a big step for real-world Bitcoin use! They’ve had an 18% sales increase since accepting Bitcoin. I’m really curious about that Bitcoin bonus program launching in a few years.
Yeah, but I’m not sure about the timing. If it was a while back, Bitcoin hadn’t dropped as much as now. Some people are skeptical about using Bitcoin for burgers because it implies they’re not holding.
I think people are scared due to regulations. In places like Vietnam, businesses would jump at accepting Bitcoin but can’t because of the legal restrictions.
Exactly. If businesses start accepting Bitcoin where it’s illegal, they risk being shut down or even arrested. That’s a major risk in certain countries.

It’s a bummer. But it’s true that laws can always be manipulated to fit agendas, whether it’s Bitcoin or anything else.

So Steak ‘n Shake is all about Lightning payments? What about on-chain? They should definitely consider it down the line.
Yeah, it’s just Lightning for now. It’s cheaper and faster than on-chain. Transaction fees can get insane if the network is busy.
Makes sense. But what if someone wants to pay with on-chain and they’re stuck waiting 10 minutes for confirmations?
Agreed! I just wish more businesses would accept Bitcoin. I’ve seen some places like Binance and Coinbase getting into this whole merchant thing too.
In my country, we can’t use Bitcoin for payments at all. They only recognize it as a commodity, which is super limiting.
