Just saw Christine Lagarde talking about CBDCs, and wow, it feels like the whole agenda to replace cash with a "digital euro" is gaining speed. What does that mean for Bitcoin? Definitely think it could push the price up, but developers working with BTC might be seen as enabling illegal stuff, which is a nightmare.
Should Developers Stay Anonymous to Avoid Jail Risks?

How so? Think about it! You can earn and spend Bitcoin without involving banks at all. That’s the whole point of crypto, right? Plus, you can buy and sell BTC P2P without issues. It’s peer-to-peer cash, just how it was meant to be.

I see what you mean, but banks still play a huge role by providing liquidity to BTC via FIAT purchases on exchanges like Binance or Coinbase. I wouldn’t be surprised if banks decide to block those transactions soon. Already hearing people shouldn’t label crypto on their bank transactions to avoid flags.
Are you serious? What's your source on that being a real possibility? This FUD is just recycled nonsense. They’ve been claiming BTC challenges the corrupt banking system since day one, and CBDCs are part of that corrupt setup.

Not so fast. Lots of places have outright banned crypto and guess what? Nothing happened. The EU can try to ban it too, but people are still gonna find a way around it. It’s like trying to ban anything else people just gonna do what they wanna do.
Doxxing developers? That’s tough. Most folks on GitHub aren’t using their real pics. They’ve done a good job at remaining anonymous. Sure, the government has tech to find you, but working on open-source stuff shouldn’t be illegal, right?
There are definitely developers out there who just want to boost their resumes. Some might choose not to be anonymous for that reason.
You really should stay anonymous, especially if you're focused on privacy. Things are getting tighter in Europe. Cash is disappearing, and we’re headed towards pure digital transactions. What kind of evidence are you looking for, anyway? Lagarde made some bold claims.

If they do ban crypto here, I bet BTC prices will skyrocket in the EU. The black market always pays more. But I don’t see CBDCs taking over anytime soon. They’re dabbling, sure, but cash isn’t going anywhere fast.
As a developer, that’s crazy talk. We’d challenge any monopoly claims in EU courts. Open-source devs have protections. If a dev isn’t involved in money laundering, then good luck trying to arrest them for making a tool.
Public figures might be the scapegoats they’re counting on. Stirring fear around the ECB is what they want. They’ll use the money laundering excuse until it doesn’t work anymore, then who knows what the next move will be.
There are always those who crave control over the world's economy. With digital currencies rising, there’s bound to be chaos. Famous developers might face backlash, but staying anonymous could shield them from all that.
I get what you’re saying. Let me throw this out there, though. Guns can be used for good or evil, but we don’t blame the makers. Anonymity in crypto helps keep the system decentralized, which is why Satoshi stayed hidden.

How could you even think BTC and ETH will be worthless by 2025? That's just your speculation. There are tons of ways to get crypto. Bitcoin is all about being peer-to-peer, which is way different from banks.
Totally agree, CBDCs fear losing control as crypto gets more popular. The anonymity that Satoshi had is the ultimate hack against centralized systems, and no one’s figured out how to stop it yet.

Staying anonymous on the internet is tough, especially as a dev. Bug fixes and updates can slip you up. You can do everything right and still get exposed. It’s not perfect.
Without people, crypto can be silenced. True, but devs have ways to protect themselves. Not with guns, but through legal tools and public opinion. You can tackle stalkers online too.
Security-focused OS like Qubes OS can help with anonymity issues. Separate VMs for different tasks make it less likely you'll slip up. If you get hacked, they only access what’s in that VM, keeping your crypto safer.

On the topic of public opinion and laws, how many people really understand crypto? Most folks still aren’t onboard. The government is struggling to catch up while pushing CBDCs as a response.
Right now, many crypto projects have tarnished the image of the whole space. People want developers of scams like Luna or BitConnect locked up. Unfortunately, that makes everyone look bad, even legit projects like Bitcoin.
