sold some BTC for $100 this morning, then the buyer came back asking for $900. sounds awesome, right? but nah, I like to keep the amount below $500 on platforms like eBay or leboncoin because I worry they'll report it to tax authorities... 30% tax on my profits ain't cool when I'm only making 5%. how much can I even sell yearly without raising flags? any ideas for alternatives with paywalls to take debit cards?

Might wanna share where you're located. Also, if that 30% is on gains, it should only be on your 5%, not the whole amount. But honestly, getting a pro's advice on tax stuff could really help, especially with KYC involved. If they see banking transactions, you might get slapped with penalties.

I'm in France, and I think if you're not a registered business, they just tax everything at 30%. plus, they hate OTC trades because it looks like tax evasion. there's gotta be a threshold where they don’t bother me, I just need to figure that out.

oops, did it again. just sold €300 to the same buyer. they think I sold them a PS5, but it was BTC. now they’re asking for €500 in Monero tomorrow or €600 in BTC. TXID: 9bc5a4553f54db832cc61ba08c787dcfa3121ce4d0fefb5305dfc179d66e0458

I'm thinking of just sticking to in-person deals on leboncoin. if I get banned, I lose everything because it’s my only good account with reviews. I'll take my business to another account instead.

Why not try P2P exchanges for selling BTC? eBay and similar sites aren't meant for crypto trades. Using them could get you in trouble if they catch on. safer that way.

Wait, so you’re buying and selling BTC on eBay? That’s risky, right? Seems sketchy since it’s not what the platform is for. You’re putting yourself at more risk if the other party flakes on payment. I’d stick to legit exchanges.

Yeah, stick to P2P. Way safer and even after considering taxes, you’ll still come out ahead. If they keep asking for more transactions, it could be a scam. Better off finding a safer method to deal.

thanks for the tips. I trust my reviews on leboncoin help me make sure people pay first, so scams are less likely. I use "f2f option" where they have to confirm receipt before I send crypto. been there, done that with scams before.

Is localcoinswap good? Can I get paid with a debit card there? If it’s all wire transfers, that’s a risk for chargebacks.

Yeah, he first DM'd me on my ad for crypto exchange. once we settled on a price, I list an item to sell. he pays using f2f, then I send the coins. small amounts online, bigger ones in person at banks or casinos.

Honestly, selling small amounts like 100, 500, or even 900 shouldn't raise any flags. Keep under $10k in a month, and you're probably safe. Platforms might ask for KYC if you hit those thresholds, but they won’t report you just for a few hundred bucks.

Friends warned me about €3k triggering alarms for incoming cash. they’re not experts, but splitting sums helps keep it safer. still, using leboncoin isn’t really meant for that, could look like money laundering.

I agree. OP is taking risks on these sites. P2P platforms feel safer, plus they usually insure trades, which stops scams in their tracks. Just remember to pay taxes on your gains, not the total amount.

I get it, using P2P is better. but I’ve tried and either no one buys from me because I lack reviews or the interested ones seem like scammers. so now I'm back to leboncoin/ebay. thinking about making other accounts in case I get banned; losing my reviews is a nightmare.

Just sold 300 for either 7% or an RTX, depending on who you ask. this can't be this easy. life's never been that way for me, so I’m done after this one. gonna be more careful selling on other accounts and keep crypto chats off leboncoin DMs.

This is the advice I needed. I’ll stick below $10k monthly. if it’s above $500, I ask to meet face to face. had legit buyers wanting €30-50k, but I can’t source that yet due to funds. can do up to €18k with interest-free loans from friends.

Selling too much BTC on eBay or similar sites? Not good. usually leads to trouble like what you’re facing now. I don’t have a perfect solution, but here are some pointers: 1. Stick to reputable exchanges, like Coinbase or Kraken they comply with KYC and AML laws.

Did some digging on leboncoin. anything above €2000 per year, they want a tax ID and freeze your account until you comply. thankfully, I stayed below that for now. gonna rotate accounts with friends to keep it safe.
