I picked up a couple of used S17+ miners to learn the ropes. Total noob here. Initially, after I set up the NiceHash stuff, they started hashing. But only one board got recognized on one miner, while the other only recognized two out of three. After rebooting and reflashing the firmware, one is hashing fine, but the other one seems dead. That Socket Connect Failed message is stuck. Honestly, I'm scared to shut down the working one as I'm worried it’ll brick too.

NiceHash isn't the best choice, tbh.
But it sounds like you might have some bad boards.
Try flashing Braiins firmware onto an SD card and booting from that.
If it boots up, set freq to 400 for each board and volts to 16.3. Good luck!

My miner is acting up for real. I formatted a 16GB SD card to FAT32 and copied the BOS+ files to boot from it. But when I turn it on, both lights stay on and it never really boots. It's like it's stuck trying to boot from the card. Should I ask around for someone to check it out and repair it? Also, I totally agree about NiceHash. It was just my first try, but I'm already looking at other options. Thanks!

All three boards are failing to boot. Sounds like they got bad ASIC chips, which is too common for S17 models.
I had one board that would only come to life after rebooting it 6 or 8 times. Then it would hash fine for weeks until I had to reboot again. You can try that, but it might not work, and the board will need fixing eventually.
I've lost 6 out of 9 boards across three machines, managed to repair 2, but 1 is beyond saving. Others are still pending repair.
I'll give the multiple reboots a shot. Haven't tried that yet.
I’ve started searching for a repair place, but like you said, no one is accepting new orders, especially for just one machine.
I’ll try to open it up this weekend and check the boards. I’m also suspicious about the control board. I disconnected the hashing boards to see if it would connect, but no luck. Besides that Socket Connect Failed message, everything else works fine. I can ping other URLs, so that’s good.
When the kernel log says hash board x found 0 Asics, it usually means the board's dead. Could be a dead chip or something burned out. Sometimes a faulty PSU causes this too, so check that.
If the PSU isn't supplying enough power, the boards won’t function properly and you might see that 0 asic error.
Is there a way to check the PSU instead of swapping it out? Can I measure the voltage with a multimeter? Or will the kernel log show the voltage if there's a fault?
You could measure voltage at the busbar edge on all boards, but honestly, I'm not sure if that's enough of a test for your PSU. Swapping it out is the best bet; it doesn’t take long, about 5 minutes.
Hey, made some progress this weekend! I installed Braiins on the miner after loading the Antminer MP firmware. Checked the kernel log from the MP firmware, and it kinda looks like it recognizes all the ASICs. But I couldn’t get it to mine, so I switched to Braiins. Now it connects to NiceHash but shows zero activity. This tells me the control board works, but the hashing boards are likely toast. By the way, I opened it up and checked the voltage; it was as expected.
In Braiins OS, the logs might show something like x voltage requested, y voltage given.
And for NiceHash, make sure you're using the sha256asicboost URLs, not just sha256.
Try enabling Autotuning and set the lowest power limit. Remember, with Autotuning on, none of the manual settings apply.

I was pointing it to the sha256 boost, so that’s good. Tried different settings in Braiins, but I still got the same 0 hash. Only difference is NiceHash acknowledges the miner is connected but still no hashing.
Packing it up to send off for repair. Appreciate all the suggestions! Worth a shot!

You really need to take it to a repair shop. But if you have some electronics skills, you might fix it yourself.
I can handle older miners like L3+, S9, and I have S17s too, but I just sent mine to a repair center since they’re not at the end of life yet.
