So there's this new bill going around that would force manufacturers to include backdoors for government access to encrypted data. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of encryption, right? Seems like a huge step back for privacy in the US.

Yeah, I mean, what are these lawmakers thinking? It's like they're clueless about security. If companies have to make devices with backdoors, they won't just whip up another version without them. This could push other countries to create better, more secure tech.

For real. I've seen criminals aren’t using the super advanced tech we think they are. If they were, the feds would have to put way more effort into cracking things like Tor. Backdooring new devices is one thing, but old ones? Good luck with that.

Just because some groups aren’t savvy doesn’t mean there won’t be exploiters. Once someone finds out about this backdoor, it'll spread like wildfire. We really need to focus on true privacy, not this compromised nonsense.

Look at Google and Apple. They control the smartphone game, and they could totally have hidden backdoors to help out the government. It’s all hush-hush, but it's the simplest way for them to comply. Plus, older devices? They’ve got backdoors just waiting to be accessed.

Afaik, Google has to share their source code, right? What about Samsung? They might try to dodge this backdoor nonsense. If cypherpunks get wind of it, they could just dump keys online. Imagine the chaos! Journalists would eat it up!
