So the OCC just put out a statement saying banks can engage in crypto stuff like custody and stablecoins. Sounds like good news for crypto adoption in the banking sector.
I mean, they even mentioned that they’re cool with banks participating in networks like blockchains. That’s pretty significant if you ask me.
Not to mention they also dropped some old requirements for these institutions. Guess they’re trying to keep up with the times, huh?
What do you guys think? Is this a step in the right direction?

Totally agree! This could really open doors for more banks to get into crypto and help legitimize it.
I’m curious though... do you think this will lead to more regulations or less? I mean, banks are gonna want to play it safe, right?

+1, this is a big deal. But I’m a bit skeptical about how it’ll play out in practice. Banks moving slowly as usual, ya know?
Also, what about the risks? Crypto is still a wild west in many ways.

Ngl, I’m just happy to see anyone in the banking world actually embracing crypto. Maybe we’re finally getting somewhere.
But yeah, let’s also keep an eye on the regulations coming from this. Can’t have them go overboard and stifle innovation.

I’m not convinced yet. Just because a letter is issued doesn’t mean all banks will jump on the crypto train.
We’ve seen hesitation from traditional finance before, right? What’s different now?

I think it’s a mix of demand from consumers and pressure from competition. Banks can’t ignore crypto forever. Plus, this letter might push some of them to take action.

True, true. But let’s not forget that a lot of these banks still don’t fully understand crypto. Education is key, imo.
