So Mastercard just dropped this news about a virtual test environment for central bank digital currencies. They say it’ll help central banks figure out how to issue and exchange these currencies... pretty interesting, right?

Right? It's like they see the potential to save big bucks. I mean, transferring money internationally with banks is a joke, like $35-$50 fees just for a $100 transfer! Hopefully, blockchain can change that game.
Yeah but I’m not sold on CBDCs. I mean, what if countries start restricting foreign currencies? We’ve seen bans before, like back in the day with gold in the US. Sounds sketchy to me.
I get that, but imagine if all major payment methods like Mastercard, Visa, and Amex went blockchain. It would definitely increase competition and lead to better deals for consumers!
Totally! But Amex’s fees make it tough to love them. Banks need to partner with places like supermarkets. Think about how convenient that’d be faster payments and better service!

Mastercard's got loads of blockchain patents, right? They know what’s up. Other countries are already diving into CBDCs. Just shows they’re not lagging behind... but we’ll see how it plays out.
