Looking for old Bitcoin-Qt 0.7.2 version

Anyone know where I can still grab Bitcoin-Qt version 0.7.2? Can I run it alongside other versions on my computer?

Here's a link to the old version. But honestly it used to be on sourceforge, which is kinda dead now. I found some release notes too but it’s tough to track down the actual file.

Why even bother with that ancient version? Newer ones work better. Plus, if you just need.dat files, there are other ways to do it. Did you search like I suggested?

I mean, searching for old software is a pain. I checked archive.org too... nothing there. But have you tried specifying *.dat in the search bar?

I found a link to it but be super careful, guys. Use a spare computer if you can, and don’t connect it online. If you’re just trying to extract keys, Pywallet might be a better bet.

Yeah, just set a different datadir for it and you should be good. Just remember to do it every time you start it up. It might not work well with really old versions tho.

I wanna find the wallet I used back in 2014! I’ve got a bunch of wallet.dat files but no clue which one is the right one. If I copied everything to a new drive, could the modified dates change?

Pywallet can actually help with that! It can read deleted stuff too. Just be careful if you’re using it on a formatted disk.

Are you talking about Bitcoin Core? If so, restoring old wallet.dat files should work fine. Just remember to select 'Restore' not 'Migrate' to keep it classic.

There’s no SHA-256 hash or PGP signature for that version. If you want to be certain about it, maybe try compiling from the source. But that’s for the tech-savvy folks.
