What if we built a mini OS just for hunting down private keys? Sounds crazy but could be cool.

We kinda already have that with Linux. It's super versatile and can be adjusted for whatever you need.

Linux has its own limits tho. It doesn't give you full access to CPU power. It’s like sharing resources which slows things down.

So you basically want to rewrite microcode? Good luck with modern CPUs and GPUs. That's a Herculean task.

If you’re into that, maybe grab an FPGA and program it? Or hire someone who knows how.

CUDA does that too. Runs on the GPU without the slowdown of an OS managing it. Think of the shader code as its own OS.

ASIC designs are solid for this, but man, they’re pricey. My goal is to make it affordable using regular computers for the key search.

Based on what was said, use an FPGA for this. They give you speed without the high costs of ASICs.

Exactly, FPGAs are way more efficient for parallel tasks than regular CPUs, plus they’re cheaper! Like similar price to a single board computer.

Modern CPUs are just not built for basic operation anymore. A new OS would be complicated and might not even fix anything.

You don't have the usual programs with FPGAs. They run at hardware level and can be way faster than CPUs, consuming the same power.

Why stick with GPUs then? If FPGAs are faster and cheaper, what's holding people back?

Everything has a trade-off. Finding someone who can design an FPGA isn’t easy and they’re not cheap.

True. It's much easier to grab a GPU than to find an FPGA expert willing to take you on.

FPGA programming is complex for sure, but the performance boost could be huge. If done right, it could totally rock.

If it's so obvious, then why not just make it happen? Just know, the ones who can do this are super rare.
