Is there a way to find out how many retail investors are active in the Bitcoin market? I’ve seen some news saying participation is way down but have no clue how they measure it.

Not sure you'll find much from exchanges due to privacy issues. Maybe check out Glassnode for buyer/seller stats but it doesn't give a full picture.

@user1 I think this deserves its own thread because some folks are predicting a bubble. If retail participation is low, when will the market pop?

For sure, knowing how retail investors act is key. We could maybe look at transfer sizes in exchange wallets, but that could still mess with whale activity.

Coinbase app rankings used to be a solid indicator for peaks when it shoots up, watch out for a price bubble. Anyone else noticed that?

Yeah, but that info is often locked behind paywalls. I just watch the fear index; it gives a vibe of retail sentiment.

Checked out that link you shared. I'm skeptical about those numbers. Retail investors really seem to be more active lately than what's shown.

True, but if the chart only counts addresses with 0.1 BTC or more, that’s excluding a lot of small guys. Think we might be missing some data.

Exactly, those stats won't ever be spot-on, but they still matter. If companies are trading one way and retail another, it could be a tell.

Look, check eBay for mining gear sales. If miners are selling fast, retail FOMO could be kicking in.

Yeah but mining is way too tough now. Most retail folks aren’t into it anymore. Apps like Coinbase were huge back in the day.

Do exchanges share liquidation data? Coinglass has some info on that, seems useful for gauging retail moves.

Absolutely, also check Google Trends for crypto-related searches those have been good to track retail interest historically.

Saw a post about social media metrics for retail interest. It’s a bit vague, though is it bullish or bearish?

Gotta first understand who these retail investors are. Some are just buying fractions of Bitcoin for quick flips, not like institutions.

That’s the thing most commentary is about long-term holding. Short-term investors need to handle their emotions better, lol.

People in crypto still struggle with the basics. Many don’t even grasp how Bitcoin works yet.

But isn’t that precisely why monitoring app installs can work? Newbies will download when FOMO kicks in.
