Hal Finney was an early pioneer in the Bitcoin space, tweeting about it first on January 11, 2009. He was also the recipient of the first Bitcoin transaction, which marked a significant moment in crypto history. Finney believed that Bitcoin could reach the value of all global assets if it became the dominant payment system.
Hal Finney's Bold Bitcoin Prediction

He even predicted Bitcoin would hit $10 million. A lofty goal, no doubt. Back then, Bitcoin was basically worthless, under a dollar. If it reached $100K, who knows what’s next? But we shouldn’t forget how improbable $100K once seemed.
Uh, yeah. You’re echoing someone else’s insight. Might wanna give credit or you could catch a ban.
Taking that into account. I think the predictions are fair. If Bitcoin becomes a leading payment method, it could definitely happen. The US backing Bitcoin might cause other countries to follow suit, making Finney’s vision a reality. Also, Michael Saylor has even bigger expectations.
I hadn’t heard of that specific prediction before, but it’s clear he was ahead of his time. As it stands, Bitcoin hasn’t reached that level yet. To get there, it has to be adopted as legal tender in several countries, maybe 20 or 40, and added to national reserves.
Absolutely, the potential of Bitcoin is legendary. While $10 million seems wild, people thought it was crazy to suggest Bitcoin would even reach $100K.
If Bitcoin goes mainstream, its value could soar beyond anything we’ve seen. Unlike other assets, Bitcoin is decentralized and has a unique appeal. It’s fascinating how Hal and Satoshi envisioned this future.
But I think his prediction might be off. A $10 million Bitcoin puts its market cap beyond $200 trillion, which is just insane. It would need to replace the dollar completely, and that's a big ask.

Totally. With inflation rates rising, $1M could happen eventually, maybe even $5M. There’s a lot of wealth out there, and Bitcoin could be the key to unlocking it.
Doubting that we’ll hit $5M anytime soon. The volatility is still high, and past bull runs aren’t as dramatic as they used to be. 2025 could see around $200K at best.
Right, and Hal could never predict how the public would react to Bitcoin's value. It all comes down to adoption.

Honestly, I don’t see Bitcoin ever being equal to the total global wealth. That just seems unrealistic to me.
Agreed, Hal's logic doesn’t hold water. Just because Bitcoin could become a major currency doesn’t mean its value will always match global wealth.

Yeah, if Bitcoin hits $10 million, I’d assume fiat is pretty much dead by then. I’m curious to see what that looks like.
I think the market’s stabilization means longer-term growth. Not sure about the exact numbers either, but I believe good things are coming.
Predictions are often flawed. Don't count on what anyone, even Hal or Satoshi, says.

Seems like it’s a binary outcome for Bitcoin. It either gets mainstream adoption or fades away.
True, Bitcoin’s success is valid in community discussions, yet not everyone is on board. If billionaires start shifting their wealth into Bitcoin, it could change the game.
Skepticism is warranted, especially since no government can control it. For Bitcoin to dominate, fiat would have to disappear.

Bitcoin’s come a long way since it was worthless and could see a major price boost again. We might just be at the beginning.
