Exploring Post-Quantum Signatures in Bitcoin

Just wanted to share that I've been experimenting with a version of Bitcoin where I swapped out the ECDSA signatures for these new hash-based post-quantum signatures. Not trying to create a new coin or anything, just testing how this change affects various aspects like signature sizes and signing times. It's more about showing the actual costs of transitioning to a post-quantum signature system. The scheme I’m using is called SHRINCS/SHRIMPS, developed by Kudinov and Nick. Everything else? Kept super close to Bitcoin’s original setup... - The chain layer? Still the same: SHA-256d PoW, 88-byte little-endian header, and the 2016-block retargeting.

Sounds interesting! So you’re just focusing on the signature part? What about other elements? Any thoughts on transaction speeds or block sizes?

How do you ensure compatibility with existing wallets? Are you worried about fragmenting the user base?

Not really worried about wallet fragmentation. As long as the core mechanics stay the same, I think the community will adapt. But yeah, we'll see how it goes.

What do you think about the signing latency? That's a big factor if we want to scale.
