Estimating Bitcoin ownership is tricky. We can't expect accurate numbers since it's so private. But I've seen estimates of around 500 million people holding some Bitcoin.
Estimating Bitcoin Ownership: How Many Holders Are There?

True, many are just unaware of Bitcoin. It's wild to think how many people still have no clue. Even with that big number, only a minority have 1 BTC or more.
Poverty plays a big role, seriously. People are struggling with basic needs, not thinking about Bitcoin. Even those with money might not care or know enough about it.
Data shows only about 10% global crypto adoption. It’s not just about knowledge; many folks who know about Bitcoin don’t actually own any.

Can’t trust these stats too much. A lot of Bitcoin is held off-network or in brand-new addresses. Just counting addresses isn't enough.
Exactly, plus some wallets are empty or forgotten. We might see more adoption in a few years, but it's hard to pin down individual holders.

Preach! WALLETS DON’T EQUAL PEOPLE. One person can have tons of wallets. It's frustrating how stats are so misleading.
Yeah, and exchanges have huge amounts in single addresses. Makes it hard to know how many actual owners are out there.
I wouldn’t trust those chain-analysis sites either. They don't explain how they got their numbers, and that ‘taint’ concept is just silly.
Good point! Some early adopters probably lost access to their wallets, which makes it hard for average folks to even get to 1 BTC.

If you hold even 0.1 Bitcoin, you're among the elite. It shows how tough it is to scale up. Many are just reeling from price drops.
You highlighted something key. Even with estimates of 500 million, that's just a drop in the bucket compared to the global population.
Absolutely, and with only 950,000 addresses over 1 BTC, actual ownership is probably way lower. Holding just 0.1 BTC puts you in the top tier.

It’s crazy how many addresses only hold tiny amounts. Some of those are just DCA strategies over time.
Super interesting. Getting into that top 10% with 0.1 BTC feels unreal, but ownership remains scarce.
Not sure how they estimate, but even looking at recent data shows way fewer actually own Bitcoin than we think.
Honestly, why waste time stressing about others’ ownership? Focus on your own investments and strategies.
This is the reason behind Bitcoin’s slow adoption. Basic needs come first, so people can’t prioritize investing in something so volatile.
Exactly! Bitcoin isn’t for everyone. Many just can’t afford to invest while trying to survive.

I think it’s about more than ignorance. So many people don’t have the cash to invest as we look at these prices.
