Honestly, there’s no easy guide for that. If you want something basic, maybe try starting with Signet or run your own Regtest. Should cover your needs, depending on what you’re after.

Yup, if you just need a sandbox, fire up bitcoin core with -regtest. You can create a blockchain from scratch and mine blocks like a boss. But if you’re thinking about building a testnet for others, you’ll need some coding skills. Check out the PR for v4 and see what changes happened there. That should give you a head start on making a version 5.

Signet’s the easiest way to go if you want to mess around on your own without worrying about decentralization right now. Testnet 4 is basically chaos, as it should be lol. Think of Bitcoin as an ocean, Testnet as a wave pool, and Signet as your kiddie pool. Start slow or get into the deep end, but beware, it’s expensive out there!
