Just got my hands on 4 units, 2 M30s and 2 M50s thanks to a buddy.
Started with the M30s.
They’re almost equal.
Checked the numbers on both. One is pulling 3214 watts and doing around 96 TH/s, the other pulls 3171 watts and does about 95 TH/s. Both are pretty consistent with around 33 watts.

Heads up, I’m seeing an error with one machine.
It’s on my 3-phase setup and sometimes one leg drops voltage.
If you’re on A/B or A/C, you can hit around 200 volts and see this 206 error pop up.
Living in Clifton NJ, our power grid isn’t the best, drops voltage often.
Here’s the deal with the 206 error.
It’s pretty common if your voltage dips.
This issue doesn’t happen with legs B/C, they stay stable.
These miners are pretty solid. They run similarly to M10s, M20s, and M50s.
I’ll have access to the M50 soon and will share my thoughts then.

You should check the voltage at your PSU.
Use the Whatsminer tool: go to Settings, Display Mode, set it to Custom, and add PowervIn.
That’ll show you the voltage. Yours seems low, under 200V, hence the error.
I've got SensorPush app set up.
Room temp is 65°F and exhaust is 92°F.
Using only 2 of 4 exhaust fans right now.
Current volts are 202 and 201. Need to talk to the electrician.
Keep in mind those readings might not be accurate.
Temps can vary a lot based on airflow and how many fans are running.
Your miners are reporting 25-26°C while your sensor shows 18.4°C, that’s a big difference. Always check the miner’s own temp sensor.

I’m about to check another building with M50s; it’s running at 230 and 230.5 volts.
Definitely talking to the electrical guy.

Whatsminer seems like a solid choice for performance.
I find they report hashrate a bit more conservatively than Bitmain, which is good.
I own 7 M50s, they all exceed expected hashrate.
Most are 108/110 TH/s and hitting over 111. Even have one pushing 117.
230V is ideal, M50s should run smoothly.
Anything between 220V and 240V is perfect.
Below 220V isn’t ideal, especially below 210V for long term. Call your electric guy, that’s what they’re there for.
Yeah, we’ve got over 40kW in that room.
Waiting on a new panel since the current one is ancient.
I’ll move some gear around, put the M30s in another room.

Thanks for the review too, would’ve been great to test the two models in the same setup for a fair comparison.

Didn’t know there are different M50s.
Mine are M50s+ and average 130 TH/s at 25 J/TH, using about 3250W.
Yours are the S model.
S means more efficient and usually better performance.
There’s also S+ and S++, the more pluses, the better it is.
Are you sure yours is S+? Those are rare.

Yep, they’re what I said.
Price was back in February, about 26.4k, taxes and delivery included.
New setup pic: all four units in the ASIC room.
Voltages look good, but it’s a bit hot.
I’ll shift some lighter gear around.
Temps don’t seem bad. Fans are running at 5k RPM, not maxing out.
Hashboard max temp is 80°C, you’re still 10 degrees away from that.
Whatsminer cases are designed to cool effectively, keep some space between units.
Thinking of putting some barriers between units.
Found some insulation tape and project panels at Lowe’s to create walls.
I can build three walls for about $12.
Those links aren’t working for me.
But honestly, that might do more harm than good.
Those walls could trap heat and lead to overheating. Just space them out. I’ve run these at high temps before, they’re tough.
