Saw an interesting chart comparing Bitcoin's dominance now in 2025 to what happened in 2021. I looked at Bitcoin and Ethereum prices and it feels eerily similar, right? When Bitcoin dips, altcoins go down too, like they’re attached. Some folks are saying altseason is coming, but I’m not sold on it. I think Bitcoin keeps climbing while altcoins lag behind. What do you all think?
Comparing Bitcoin Dominance Trends: 2021 vs 2025

Totally see your point. I agree Bitcoin follows a similar trend as before, but I feel like things gotta change this time. The 2021 trend also mirrored 2017 to some extent. I don’t see Bitcoin dominance falling off a cliff again like last time, but the buzz around altseason might stabilize things a bit.

Bitcoin's future is more about fundamentals than just patterns. Satoshi aimed for BTC to be digital gold. This opens doors for solid altcoins to shine. Just look at Solana, it’s gaining traction while ETH is losing steam for various reasons. I’m optimistic for altcoins.
Historically, Bitcoin tends to rally in Q4, especially during halving years. Look at how it surged last year. If we see a similar pattern this year, we could be reaching new highs, while altcoins will struggle to keep up with BTC and ETH.
If Bitcoin shoots up this year, what happens to dominance? If it pumps, doesn’t that mean the altcoin market will take a hit? Remember previous pumps? Bitcoin dominance shot up, no signs of altcoins taking over.

Honestly, predicting the end of the year is tough. I lean towards it staying bullish. The four-year cycle is legit. Altcoin holders are holding onto hope for a rally, which might shift some dominance back to altcoins. If Bitcoin goes up, so will its dominance.
Look at ETF flows. Bitcoin's slowing down, but ETH is getting more. The growth in ETH’s price makes me think we might just be entering altseason. Some top altcoins like BNB are already setting records. It feels like the cycle is repeating, just with some delays.

It’s all speculation at this point. You dismiss altseason because you’re not invested, which is predictable. Meanwhile, those who are invested in altcoins are hopeful for a rise. I doubt all altcoins will thrive this time; there’s just too many of them. But a few could definitely outperform Bitcoin.
Exactly, we all have our biases. If you’re heavy on altcoins, you’re wishing for an altseason. If you’re not holding any, you probably don’t care. While we may hope, we gotta be realistic when we don’t see clear signs of a shift. At least we’ve got Bitcoin for stability.
ETFs are becoming a huge player now. The focus has shifted from just Bitcoin to Ethereum and Solana too. The market is definitely evolving, and we need to consider that when talking about Bitcoin’s dominance.

If we look at BTC and ETH returns over time, Ethereum hasn't reached BTC's heights. But in cycles, ETH showed better growth recently. Smaller cap altcoins can grow faster, so it’s possible for some to outperform Bitcoin.
I expect some consolidation ahead. It’ll be interesting to see if Bitcoin’s dominance breaks resistance or support soon. I’ve still got most of my portfolio in Bitcoin, as I don’t see dominance plummeting just yet.

ETFs are key now. A lot of new money is entering the market. But I think Bitcoin's dominance won't change drastically, just minor shifts. Even though altcoin season seems to be on the horizon, Bitcoin's about to push for higher levels this month.
It’s a rotation, not just a shift. Money flows from Bitcoin to ETH, showing where institutional interest lies. There aren’t as many new coins this time compared to 2021, meaning we might not see big price jumps in altcoins.
No one can predict the future, but anything is possible. BTC is ahead for now, but that doesn’t mean it will always lead. Even alt investors can realistically say that maybe altseason won't hit as expected.
Yeah I noticed the patterns too. They look the same, but the market feels different now. The hype that pumped altcoins before isn’t quite there now. Bitcoin’s narrative is dominating again, so I’m skeptical of a full altseason.

The flow of cash to ETH is clear. Recent reports show massive inflows into ETH compared to Bitcoin. This could signal a shift in demand. I haven't lost hope for an altseason.

True, Bitcoin’s still dominant but it’s not unbeatable. It’s only 7x from its lowest point last year. ETH has climbed more than 5x already, and it may still have room to grow. The race is still on.
If we assess ETH’s gains from its low, it’s not fair to ignore Bitcoin’s gains as well. We’re at the tail end of Bitcoin’s cycle, so it makes sense to evaluate where we stand. If ETH can gain market cap, it could impact Bitcoin significantly.

Bitcoin had a huge rise this cycle, but ETH's growth could mean it’s not over for them. For altcoins, they don’t take as long to rise as Bitcoin does. They can explode much quicker, making potential returns higher. We’ll see how this unfolds.
