Most folks in the Bitcoin space are all about soft forks or price actions. But honestly, some of the key changes happen quietly, often on policy levels. Like, have you heard about Cluster Mempool? It's rolling out in Bitcoin Core v31 and won’t mess with consensus rules. It’s all about organizing unconfirmed transactions better in the mempool, which should help with fee estimates and block building.

Totally agree, but there’s a catch. There are still some major consensus upgrades that could really boost Bitcoin. Like, covenants could make Layer 2 solutions way easier to use. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see at least one consensus upgrade for that. But hey, maybe we can implement covenant-like structures without changing the rules, like what they're doing with BitVM.

Yeah, Cluster Mempool is a step forward, but it’s kinda niche. It shines when you have unconfirmed transactions with lots of recipients. I’ve been looking forward to it since it makes coinjoin confirmations more reliable.

Cluster Mempool is definitely important, but from the ecosystem view, it’s even more key. If Bitcoin didn’t develop this, miners would just create their own solutions, which could centralize things. Open development helps ensure the best mining practices are available to everyone, reducing that risk.

A lot of builders in Bitcoin are saying Cluster Mempool is one of the best improvements we’ve seen in years. It’s not flashy, which is why people might overlook it. No soft fork needed, and it doesn’t change Bitcoin’s rules. It tackles some old issues with how nodes manage unconfirmed payments.

I think we’ve been at this point for a while now. Some improvements are shifting off-chain or to layer 2. Still, I expect at least one fork every couple of decades because cryptography isn’t forever. And who knows, maybe we’ll get a fork that increases the block size limit a bit.

Yeah, I’ve seen some Bitcoin layer 2 projects, but honestly, I’m not too into them. Recently, the mempool has been great, and fees are low. Just heard about a project that stopped development due to low demand for layer 2. Not sure what it was called, but I think it was Botanix, or something like that.
