Saw this article today and it’s got me thinking... are the problems just with the S19 XP 140TH and S19 90TH models?
I’ve had a few S19APro 110TH units go down on me while still under warranty. They dropped to 2/3 of the hashboards, kinda like what’s happening with those other units. My stuff has been stuck at the repair center for 2 months now...
So, like, did Bitmain hire this fresh grad engineer without any real-world design experience, and just say, "Forget what works, let’s change it up!"?
There's a ton wrong with what’s described in that article. I can’t help but think they hired the same guy who messed up the AMT/Bitmine.ch A1 CoinCraft miner hashboards as a consultant!
Is it really that serious? The tweet I saw seemed way worse than the article makes it out to be.
So they raked in crazy profits selling gear overpriced for a year, and now they decide to cut costs on parts even more? Just to save a few bucks? Sounds like a bad move to me. Aluminums boards and that PIC issue... it's not looking good for smaller miners.
PSU compatibility is a nightmare with these new miners. The old ones had PSUs like APW12, but the new ones? Nope, they need their own.
And it’s not just the PIC issue. They skimped on temp sensors too! Some boards have only two instead of four or six. But yeah, the old miners are getting rare now, since everything being sold has switched to the new stuff.
I keep hearing that the "A" version of the S19 Pro is pretty terrible. Why are people selling it cheaper than the others? It’s frustrating to see expensive gear fail within months, reminds me of the 17 series.
It's not just the aluminum board. I’ve worked with both brands and tbh, nothing beats Whatsminer for durability. Those who get it know that’s why Whatsminers can still hold their price close to Antminer despite being a bit less efficient.
